PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore Terence McPeak added to the La Salle track & field program's academic resume on Thursday as he was named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team.
The Academic All-Conference Team requires at least a 3.0 and is voted on by the conference's sports information directors.
McPeak, an Integrated Science, Business & Technology major, posted a stellar sophomore campaign at the 2010 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship. He earned the silver medal in the 800 meter run, clocking an IC4A time of 1:54.19. He followed that up by running the second leg of the 4x800 meter relay squad that now has two gold medals in the past two years. McPeak helped the relay squad capture a huge eight-second win with an IC4A time of 7:42.10.
McPeak had qualified for IC4A's earlier in the season in the 800 meters, clocking a 1:54.75 at Navy's Wesley A. Brown Invitational.
As a freshman in 2008-09, McPeak ran a leg of the school-record-setting outdoor 4x800 meter relay squad that posted two straight school records at the IC4A Championship. He was also a member of the silver medalist 4x800 team at the 2009 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship that bested the previous conference record.
Joining McPeak on the Academic All-Conference Team are: Sean Busch (Massachusetts), Nick Delligatti (Fordham), Tommy Kauffman (Xavier), Darius Law (Charlotte), Matt Llano (Richmond), Tim Quinn (Richmond), Andrew Reigstad (Rhode Island), James Whalen (Rhode Island) and David Whelan (Saint Louis). Charlotte's Law earned Student-Athlete of the Year honors.
The Explorers open their outdoor track season, splitting time between the adidas Raleigh Relays at NC State, the Stanford Invitational at Stanford University and a tri-meet at Villanova featuring Villanova, Temple and the Explorers.
